Joseph BUFFINGTON and Ann (ABNEY) BUFFINGTON sold a tract of land to Morgan Mills on 7 June 1807 in Edgefield County, South Carolina. Joseph Buffington and Sarah Buffington, his widowed mother, both of Edgefield District, sold Mills 2 acres of land on Persimmon Lick Creek for $8.00. One acre was on the north side of the creek . and one on the south side, part of two tracts granted to James Brooks, adjoining the land where Mills now lived. It was signed by Joseph Buffington and Sarah (X mark) Buffington. Witnesses were Esau Brooks and Warren Bledsoe. On 13 Aug 1808 Anny (X mark) Buffington, wife of Joseph, relinquished any claim in the land before Sampson Pope JP.1

Abney took over these accounts due to the death (sic) of their brother-in-law, husband of their sister Ann Abney Buffington. She later married John Brown.)4

James Monroe Ramsey Jr. was born on 13 January 1886 in Alabama, the son of James Monroe Ramsey, Sr. and Annie E. Foshee.
James married first Arie Klinner on 12 January 1905 in Chilton County, Alabama. She was the daughter of John and Nancy Lee Klinner. His parents were living in Maplesville in 1900 and 1910 and were buried in the Maplesille Cemetery.1
Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. The first registration was for men between the ages of 21 and 31. As a result, this first registration included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. James filled out a draft card on 5 June 1917 in Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama. He was recorded as a farmer, and described as stout, medium height, red har, and brown eyes. He was married to Arie Ramsey.2
James married Frances Dorothy BROWN, daughter of Francis Horatio BROWN and Frances May ABNEY, on 7 October 1924 at the Methodist Episcopal Church South in Plantersville, Dallas County, Alabama. The service was performed by Rev. J. W. Jones. Ramsey was a resident of Selma and Frances of Maplesville. This was his second marriage. [Note: this marriage may have been anulled. She was back with her family in 1930 and listed as a widow, but with surname Brown. She was listed as Miss Brown when she married Frank Gulledge in 1933. JM Ramsey married again in 1926]3

He was the original owner of a land grant in a transaction involving Capt. William ABNEY on 7 November 1807 in Edgefield County, South Carolina. Lurena Gentry Burnett relinquished dower rights to 100 acres on waters of Little Saluda River to William Abney. They were originally granted to Jeremiah Burnett, Sr. 4 Jun 1786. She had married Burnett in 1783 and was the daughter of Hezekiah Gentry and Catherine Reynolds.

George Washington GIBBONS, son of Theodore GIBBONS and Mary Ann Elizabeth BILLINGSLEY, was born on 1 June 1846 in Autauga County, Alabama.
George began military service at age 17 in May 1864 in Tensaw Landing, Alabama, as 1st Corporal in Compant K, 1st Alabama Infantry, CSA. He was listed as absent sick at the end of the war. He applied for a pension after the war and wife Harriett continued it after his death.
James D. Rice provided testimony in support of the claim 16 Sep 1913. Rice served in the same company with George. He said that George enlisted in the spring of 1864 at Tensaw Landing, Alabama. Rice said that he was badly wounded 3 Jul 1864 at Marietta, Georgia and that George assisted him into the ambulance. This was likely the Battle off New Hope Church. Rice said that when he returned to the company at Jonesboro, George was still there. They remained with the company throughout the Georgia campaign and left before Hood's Tennessee campaign. George said that he was sick in the hospital and missed the march for that reason.1
George married Harriett Elizabeth Tatum on 12 December 1872 in Autauga County, Alabama. She was the daughter of William Lewis Tatum and Sarah Ann Catherine Scott.2
